Lukáš Klánský - Teaching Activities

Teaching is an important part of Lukáš Klánský’s professional life. Since 2018, he has been a member of the piano faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU), where he completed his habilitation in 2023, and he also teaches at the Prague Conservatory. While drawing on the tradition of the Czech piano school, his teaching places particular emphasis on each student’s individual artistic development, the cultivation of sound, a thorough understanding of the musical text, and the ability to make independent interpretative decisions.

His students and graduates are active on the concert stage and have taken part in major national and international competitions. Among his graduates at HAMU is Czech pianist Eva Strejcová, who participated in the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.

Alongside his regular teaching, Klánský is actively involved in masterclasses and other educational projects. He is a long-standing faculty member of the International Piano Courses in Mikulov and has given masterclasses in the Czech Republic and abroad, including guest teaching at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in A Coruña and the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. His lectures and seminars explore subjects including piano sound, the psychology of performance, effective practice strategies and questions of style and interpretation.
